In addition to Columbia University, the survey found that the following schools also offer generous financial aid packages: Yale University ($53,937), Stanford University ($51,818), Harvard University ($51,400), and Princeton University ($50,845).
The report also found that the number of students receiving need-based aid at the surveyed colleges is on the rise. In 2017, the number of students receiving need-based aid at the surveyed colleges was 2,973, a 9 percent increase from the previous year.
